Chris Imhoff is a professional trumpet player based out of Piedmont, SC.  Before settling in South Carolina, Chris spent 5 years on the road traveling across North America with the touring productions of The Wizard of Oz, A Chorus Line, Dreamworks' Shrek, the Musical, and Catch Me If You Can.  

He holds the positions of Principal Trumpet of the Hendersonville Symphony Orchestra and Co-Principal Trumpet of the Brevard Philharmonic. He has performed with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, Charleston (SC) Symphony Orchestra, Greenville (SC) Symphony Orchestra, Asheville Symphony Orchestra, South Carolina Philharmonic, Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, and Richmond (IN) Symphony.  

 

Chris continues to perform for musicals and other commercial productions as a top call musician for the Peace Center in Greenville, SC and at Flat Rock Playhouse, the state theatre of North Carolina. 

 

He has performed with artists such as Frankie Valli, Dianne Reeves, Little Anthony and the Imperials, The Contours, Jens Lindemann, John Fedchock, Jiggs Whigham, Roland Vasquez, Jim Riggs, Vaughan Wiester’s Famous Jazz Orchestra, Lisa Sherman, Frankie Previte, Bobby Caldwell,  Mannheim Steamroller, Celtic Woman, and Las Vegas tribute artists Donny Edwards (Elvis Presley) and Sharon Owens (Barbra Streisand).  He can frequently be heard performing with the local band, Steel Toe Stiletto.  

 

Chris serves as part-time Instructor of Trumpet and Music Theory at the South Carolina School of the Arts at Anderson University.  He also directs the trumpet ensemble, youth trumpet ensemble, and coaches one of the brass quintets at AU.  Chris received the 2020-2021 Excellence in Teaching Award for Part-Time Faculty at Anderson University.

 

In addition to his collegiate teaching, Chris maintains a private trumpet studio, offering lessons at his home studio and online.  Those students have competed in the National Trumpet Competition and are frequent members of county, region, and all-state ensembles.

 

He has presented masterclasses at Auburn University, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and Middle Tennessee State University.  In 2012, Chris co-authored the article, "Have Trumpet, Will Travel: Life with a Touring Musical" for the Journal of the International Trumpet Guild.
